SOW CABLE VS. BONDED WELDING CABLE
SOW Cable vs. Bonded Welding Cable: What is the Difference? When it comes to choosing the correct cable for your application, take intended use and conductors needed into consideration. The durability and the number of conductors you require will make your choice simple. SOW cable and its relatives SO and SOOW feature a completely different number of conductors than bonded welding cable. Know the difference to make your choice clear-cut.
- Are you looking to power a single item, such as a generator or a light? If so, bonded welding cable is your best bet. It provides extra flexibility and is designed for one use at a time.
- There are two types of welding cable: bonded and tubed. Bonded welding cable features a conductor grooved into its jacket. It is more rugged than the tubed variety and will last longer. Run over this wire, douse it with water or drag it through the mud – it will stand up to the test.
- Tubed welding cable is less expensive than bonded, and it is specifically for fixed installation. One installed, it shouldn’t be moved often. Tubed welding cable is often useful in warehouse situations and cellular tower sheds.
- SOW cable features multiple conductors. In fact, you can choose from 2 to 70 conductors in one cable. Run multiple power leads with these cables, simultaneously providing power to worksites, mine shafts, submersibles and more.
