SO Cable
When to Replace So Cable When replacing SO Cable, always err on the side of caution. Although relatively sturdy, SO cable can eventually deteriorate. When it does, count on the wire and cable experts at Delco Wire and Cable to provide you with replacement cables that reasonably stand the test of time.
- An important note to remember is that not all SO cable is created equal. For years, SO cable was the only type of its kind. Recently, the addition of stronger, sturdier cable jackets has broadened the category to include SOW and SOOW cable.
- SO cable is actually almost obsolete. You will be hard-pressed to locate cable that has only the acronym “SO.” SOW and SOOW are far more common these days, as the cost to add the extra protection is minimal. Insist on receiving SO cable, and you may miss out on the benefits of SOW and SOOW.
- Some distributors do still carry SO cable, but do not be alarmed if you cannot locate it. Talk with the professionals at Delco Wire and Cable to ensure that SOW and/or SOOW cable can do your intended job as well (or better) than plan SO cable.
- NOTE: If your application currently is using SO cable to supply its power, it is likely that it can use SOW and SOOW cables as well.
